Master Planning

Located in the famous Chapultepec Park in Mexico City, Papalote Museo del Niño stands tall as one of the world’s largest children’s museums. Committed to expanding its public engagement and enriching educational offerings, Papalote’s visionary Director faced a multifaceted challenge to restore the physical facilities and upgrade the exhibition program in harmony with its creative vision “Toco, Juego y Aprendo” (“Learning by Playing”).

Recognizing the need for a comprehensive strategy, the Director turned to Chora’s unparalleled expertise in creative vision and concept exhibition development. Chora provided a full spectrum of services spanning exhibition master planning, exhibition development, and fundraising consulting.

The new vision and content master plan affirmed the museum’s historic educational mission and fully aligned it with Mexico’s national learning standards. Papalote has emerged as a global leader in children’s museums and science centers, seamlessly blending “serious fun,” enjoyable, and valuable educational experiences for millions of Mexican children and families. The museum’s triumph not only underscores its unwavering commitment to education but also solidifies the sustainability of its financial model by raising millions of dollars in private contributions from patrons and sponsors.

Educational commitment, vision, and creativity are Sully and Maria Elena’s strengths. Their exhibition master plan and guidance of our exhibition teams delivered a world-class museum experience for Papalote. Their passion, drive, and energy motivated staff, Board, and donors to commit to the project’s purpose and impact.
