Master Planning

The North Carolina Museum of History grappled with a daunting task: distilling the intricate tapestry of an entire state’s narrative into a singular exhibition space. Chora worked with museum leadership and architects to propose a series of immersive, interactive, and multi-sensory experiences that initiated a historic journey for visitors.

Chora’s interpretive master plan involved re-imagining the museum’s permanent exhibitions from traditional chronological history exhibitions into thematically organized exhibitions revolving around critical questions that touch visitors’ lives and experiences across time. A Chora interpretive master plan tells a narrative journey with content that is enjoyable and engages the visitor. This dynamic approach not only captivates visitors during their initial exploration but also beckons them back, time and again, with fresh revelations.

Augmenting the physical experience, Chora proposed a robust digital outreach program. This initiative extended the museum’s impact beyond its walls, delivering meticulously crafted, curriculum-aligned content to schools statewide. Chora’s strategic interventions have transformed the museum into a captivating destination positioned as an invaluable educational resource.
