The Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum sought to dramatically increase its reach and impact, cement its leadership in its field, and become the most welcoming Smithsonian museum. Becoming the most welcoming museum would require a different internal culture, a new strategy, and cross-institutional teams to implement it.
As part of preparing the NPM staff and leadership for strategic planning, Chora developed a series of management and leadership training sessions to improve communication and coordination and enhance decision-making and priority setting. Strengthening the four functions of management helped establish the ground for the successful development and implementation of the strategic plan that followed.
