Nestled in Hammondsport, New York, the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum has been an enduring storyteller of the legacy of Glenn H. Curtiss ⎯ a pioneering force in aviation and inventor extraordinaire. However, with aspirations to transcend its historical roots, the museum sought to emerge as the paramount history museum in the Northeast United States and a partner to regional STEM programs.
Recognizing the need for a strategic overhaul, the Curtiss Museum turned to Chora for expert guidance. In close collaboration with the museum’s leadership, Chora crafted a comprehensive master and business plan for a planned renovation. These blueprints charted a course for the museum’s evolution, emphasizing a dynamic narrative, diversified revenue streams, and the infusion of interactive, immersive, forward-looking educational experiences.
Chora’s strategic vision and guidance played a key role in reshaping the museum’s trajectory. The Curtiss Museum was set on a path to celebrate the region’s rich culture, traditions, and history, and to also serve as a benchmark for museums nationwide on how to do it. Chora’s expertise empowered the museum’s leadership to redefine its role, presenting an engaging and enlightening experience for visitors while solidifying its stature as a cultural cornerstone in the Northeastern United States.

“In their engagement with the Glenn Curtiss Museum, Chora was more like a colleague than a consultant. They worked with me every step of the way from master plan, to business plan, to fundraising materials. We were partners working as a team on every detail.”
